[Mo Dao Zu Shi Fanfiction] I Raise A Ying in Yiling

Chapter 54 Visit

Chapter 54 Visit

Wei Chaoyan led Wei Ying at a leisurely pace for quite a while before arriving at the fabric shop. As soon as they entered, the shopkeeper, who was standing in front of the counter, spotted the two of them and immediately greeted them warmly, asking, "Miss Wei, are you here to see Boss Yan?"

Seeing Wei Chaoyan nod, the shopkeeper smiled even more warmly and said, "What a coincidence, Boss Yan is resting in the backyard right now. You can take this young master and go directly in to find her. Last time, the boss instructed that as long as it is Miss Wei, you can go directly into the backyard to find her without having to go through the trouble of announcing your arrival."

Seeing this, Wei Chaoyan didn't stand on ceremony. She told the shopkeeper and then led Wei Ying directly to the backyard. Once inside, Wei Chaoyan walked to the room where she had previously discussed matters with Lady Yan, stopped, cleared her throat, and called out loudly, "Aunt Yan, are you there? It's me, Yan Yatou, I've come to the cloth shop to find you!"

Wei Chaoyan's voice quickly alerted Lady Yan, who was in her room. She hurriedly opened the door and saw Wei Chaoyan standing in front of the door, holding Wei Ying in one hand and a gift in the other, smiling at her.

Lady Yan asked, "Come in quickly. We just met two days ago. Why are you here to see me again? Is there something you need?"

Wei Chaoyan, holding Wei Ying's hand, followed behind Yan Niangzi into the room, and said with a grin, "Look at what you're saying, Aunt Yan. Couldn't it be that I missed you so I came to the cloth shop to see you?"

"Don't try to sweet-talk me. Tell me, what brings you here this time?" Lady Yan glared at Wei Chaoyan, who always seemed to have a reason for visiting, and said irritably.

"Um, I just wanted to ask if Aunt Yan knows where Dr. Wen and the others who have been helping Aying live? If you know, could you take us to find them? I'd like to take Aying to their house to express my gratitude for their care of her."

"I knew you'd bring nothing good when you came here," Lady Yan said with a "just as I thought" expression.

Wei Chaoyan touched her nose sheepishly, gave Yan Niangzi a somewhat ingratiating smile, and said nothing.

Seeing Wei Chaoyan's attitude, Lady Yan stopped wasting words and directly called out the subordinate who had brought Wei Ying back, saying, "He knows where Doctor Wen and the others live. I'll have him take you there. Don't worry, he already went to each of them to inform them after we delivered Wei Ying to your house."

Upon learning that Doctor Wen and the others had indeed been informed of his whereabouts, Wei Ying breathed a sigh of relief. Wei Chaoyan gave Wei Ying a look that said, "See, I told you long ago that Aunt Yan had already sent someone to inform you. You little brat, why are you still worrying unnecessarily?" Wei Ying just smiled foolishly and didn't say anything.

Lady Yan noticed the exchange between Wei Chaoyan and her companion, and twitched her lips in annoyance without saying anything. She simply waved her hand, signaling her subordinates to lead Wei Chaoyan and the others out to find someone.

Wei Chaoyan didn't hesitate and followed her subordinate out, saying as they walked, "Aunt Yan, thanks! I'll come find you again after I finish what I'm doing. Don't rush that matter; we can't set off until after winter and spring when the weather is better, otherwise the journey will be even more dangerous!"

Seeing that Wei Chaoyan still cared about her matter, Madam Yan stopped arguing and said loudly, "Alright, walk properly, I know! Auntie knows you've been busy lately. If you need anything, you can send me a message. You don't have to bring people to me yourself. My cloth shop is quite a distance from your house, and with so many little ones at home, you should be more careful!"

As Wei Chaoyan walked, she turned around and smiled at Madam Yan to express her gratitude, saying that she understood and that next time Madam Yan would come to her house herself, saving her the trouble of walking.

"That troublesome brat!" Wei Chaoyan's words made Lady Yan laugh and scold in annoyance.

Wei Chaoyan, holding Wei Ying's hand, followed her subordinates out of the cloth shop's backyard.

They visited about ten people along the way, including Doctor Wen, Granny Yang, Butcher Liu, and Uncle Wang. Amidst their tearful words of gratitude, Wei Chaoyan practically dragged Wei Ying away in a panic.

After her subordinates led them to visit Doctor Wen and his entourage, Wei Chaoyan, on their way home with Wei Ying, pondered to herself. Apart from Doctor Wen and Butcher Liu, the dozen or so people who had been taking care of Wei Ying were all elderly and impoverished. For example, Granny Yang, who had appeared earlier, was a widow with no children, earning a meager living by washing clothes for others; and there was also Grandpa Wang, who had difficulty walking and whose only son was unfilial, and so on.

Wei Chaoyan thought that during those long five years, they must have encountered some accidents that caused them to disappear from Wei Ying's life, which is why Wei Ying was so sad later and had no memory of their existence. As for now, if they encounter any difficulties, she should lend a helping hand, not only to thank them for taking care of Wei Ying, but also because they treated others kindly and should receive kindness in return when they encounter difficulties!

With that thought in mind, Wei Chaoyan took Wei Ying's hand and they walked briskly home in the afterglow of the setting sun.
