Chapter 678 Erwin Awakens
Chapter 678 Erwin Awakens
Elwyn lay on Stellagossa's back, and could clearly feel Stella trembling.
His heart was in his throat, and he could only try to keep himself from being thrown off while casting healing spells on Stella.
Finally, they returned to the enormous rotunda where Imhotar had been imprisoned.
But this place is also collapsing, yet there seems to be a glimmer of light above, indicating an exit!
Just as Stella mustered her last strength, preparing to break free of this hellish abyss in one fell swoop—
"boom--!!!"
A massive stone pillar supporting the dome of the hall finally snapped completely amidst the continuous collapse, crashing down with immense force towards the blue dragon that was struggling upwards!
Stella's old wounds had not yet healed, and new injuries were compounded, causing her to react a beat slower. Despite her best efforts to turn to the side, the huge stone pillar still slammed into her back and the base of her right dragon wing!
"Woo——!!!"
Stella let out a heart-wrenching cry. Her massive dragon body, like a bird that had been shot down, instantly lost all lift and, carrying Elwin on her back, plummeted rapidly toward the endless dark abyss below!
"Stella!!!"
Alwyn was terrified. In the rapidly falling gale, he desperately steadied himself and began chanting a healing spell!
"Holy Light! Heal her! Greater Healing! Restore! Holy Word: Serenity!"
He placed his hands on Stella's body, and dazzling golden holy light surged into her wounds like a tide.
However, the blue dragon's massive body required a huge amount of healing energy, and the speed of the fall was too fast. The healing light had just lit up, and the wounds had not yet begun to heal when they had already fallen dozens of meters!
"Wake up, Stella!"
Elwin was extremely anxious and frantically squeezed out every last bit of his Holy Light power.
However, misfortune never comes singly. Another boulder fell from the sky and slammed into his back!
"puff--!"
Alvin felt an irresistible force surge through him, as if his internal organs had shifted. He coughed up a mouthful of scalding blood, his vision went black, and his chanting abruptly stopped.
The violent shock caused Elwin's vision to go black, and he instantly lost control of his body, sliding off Stella's back and falling alone into the abyss.
"Stella..."
In the final moments before his consciousness completely faded into darkness, he seemed to hear a familiar call from an extremely distant place:
"Brother Elwin fell! The one in blue looks injured too!"
Immediately following was another, more composed and calm female voice.
"Quick! One person each, catch them!"
Then, Elwin's blurred vision was enveloped by a sky-covering red light, which seemed to dispel the surrounding cold and darkness.
Then, he completely lost consciousness.
He didn't know how much time had passed when the gentle sunlight softly caressed Elwin's face, and his consciousness seemed to slowly rise from the bottomless abyss of darkness.
Finally, he was awakened by a faint breathing sound.
He struggled to open his heavy eyelids, and the first thing he saw was a pair of large, bright eyes, as clear as burning rubies, right up close.
Upon seeing him wake up, his large eyes immediately curved into crescent moons.
A head of long, fiery red hair cascaded down, the ends gently brushing against his cheeks, carrying the scent of sunshine.
"Oh! Brother Alvin is awake! Sister Green Shadow! Sister Sandy! Brother Alvin is awake!"
A clear, cheerful voice rang out; it was Akalitha, the little red dragon.
She almost jumped for joy, and then started showering Alvin's face with kisses.
As she called out, two familiar faces came into Erwin's still somewhat blurry vision.
"Haha, it's so itchy, Akali, oh, it hurts a little."
He tried to move his body and immediately felt a tearing pain from his back and chest, and couldn't help but let out a suppressed groan.
At that moment, a gentle hand pressed down on his shoulder, stopping him from moving around.
It was Green Shadow, the night elf druid who always wore a gentle smile.
"Don't rush to get up, you're badly injured."
Green Shadow's voice was gentle yet carried a reassuring power.
She picked up a soft feather pillow and carefully placed it under Alvin's lower back, allowing him to lie in a more comfortable semi-reclined position. Only then did Alvin realize that he was lying on a simple but sturdy wooden bed, covered with a clean linen blanket, seemingly in a makeshift tent.
"Stella, where is Stella?"
Ignoring his own injuries, Alvin immediately asked anxiously, his voice hoarse from weakness.
The three girls exchanged a glance and tacitly moved aside.
Akalitha pointed to another bed next to her: "The blue one is over there! She's much more badly injured than you, and she's still sleeping!"
Alvin immediately turned to look.
Stellagra was lying quietly on a bed not far away, her eyes closed, her face still somewhat pale, but her breathing was steady and long, clearly indicating that her injuries had been brought under control.
She was now wearing a clean white silk robe, the grime and bloodstains from the battle gone. Seeing her unharmed, Elwin felt a great weight lifted from his shoulders and let out a long sigh of relief.
"How were we saved? How did you find us?"
Erwin turned his gaze back to his three companions and asked the question that had been bothering him.
Akalitha immediately answered, speaking so fast it was like she was gushing beans: "We were teleported away by that broken stone! We landed in a huge, strange place, full of dilapidated palaces and lots of weird creatures!"
Green Shadow picked up the conversation, her narration becoming more composed and clear: "Yes, that place was once an ancient elven theater, but now it is occupied by the powerful aura of a demon. We encountered a very ancient and sorrowful treant there."
She paused, a hint of pity in her eyes: "He claimed to be the last guardian of that area. He begged us to eliminate the demon leader entrenched there, a terrible satyr demon, at the cost of his own life."
Shandris added, “The satyrs are the product of a corrupting curse that spread among the Highborne in ancient times. They were originally elves, but were twisted by their addiction to demonic power, turning into half-human, half-goat monsters, cunning and evil, and loyal servants of the Burning Legion.”
Akalitta added, "That guy was amazing! He could summon imps and unleash a rain of shadow arrows! But my sister Green Shadow, Shandris, and I worked together so well! Green Shadow used her roots to entangle and restrain him, Shandris fired arrows from a distance, and I breathed fire in front to distract him! In the end, we took him down together!"
She waved her little fists, mimicking the action of breathing fire.
Green Shadow smiled and nodded, continuing, "After defeating Satyr, we searched for you along the passage, just as the entire El Retharas began to collapse."
Her tone turned serious: "We heard a huge noise and rushed to the edge of that huge vertical tunnel, just in time to see Miss Stella transformed into a dragon and flying upwards with you, then being hit by a boulder and falling down. Akali and I then rescued you."
Akalitta puffed out her chest, clearly quite pleased with herself.
