Chapter 506 - 505: Something Left to Remember
Chapter 506 - 505: Something Left to Remember
Bella Acker knelt on the grass in the rain searching for the ring, while wiping away tears and raindrops from her face.
Her hands and clothes were covered in grass scraps and mud, and her face was smeared with mud too, but she didn’t care at all. She was kneeling on the ground like she had gone insane, parting the grass bit by bit in search of the ring.
Damian definitely wouldn’t take this ring away, so it must still be here.
Even if... even if finding the ring back couldn’t change anything, at least... at least she would have something to look at and remember fondly.
At least this man once held her tightly in his arms, promising to give her lifelong happiness.
Bella cried and continued kneeling on the ground searching, while Aunt Rhodes noticed someone there and heard crying. She got startled at first, but on listening carefully, she felt the crying sounded somewhat familiar.
"Bella? Bella, is that you?" Aunt Rhodes called tentatively.
Bella lifted her head in a panic, her hair drenched by the rain, her bangs and strands sticking to her pale and delicate face, making her look pitifully disheveled, "Aunt Rhodes?"
"Bella, it really is you! How come you are here?" Aunt Rhodes felt heartbroken seeing her like this and quickly ran over, immediately raising the umbrella to shield her from the rain, not minding that her own body was getting wet.
"I’m looking for something." Bella seemed to catch a glimpse of new hope, and suddenly raised her hand, grabbing Aunt Rhodes’s wrist, pleading, "Aunt Rhodes, I’m looking for something, but I can’t find it. Will you help me search for it, please?"
Seeing her so sorrowful and distressed, Aunt Rhodes’s heart ached along with her, feeling like it was going to shatter.
Aunt Rhodes softened her voice, "Bella, tell me what you’re looking for, and I’ll help you find it."
"A ring, engraved with a name." Bella reached out in panic, pointing to the grass beside her, tears streaming down, "I clearly placed it here, but it’s gone, can’t find it anywhere. It’s the only thing I have left now, I must find it."
"Alright, alright, we’ll definitely find the ring." Aunt Rhodes lifted her hand, wiping the tears from Bella’s face, her own eyes turning red, "Our Bella is the strongest, no more crying. Watching you cry breaks my heart, you know?"
"Aunt Rhodes, I also don’t want to cry, but... but it hurts here, you know?" Bella pointed to her heart, tears suddenly streaming down again.
She didn’t want to appear so weak, but the pain, anxiety, and heaviness in her chest made the tears uncontrollable, flowing on their own.
"I know, I know." Aunt Rhodes pulled her tightly into her arms, "I once couldn’t carry on because I lost the person I loved the most. Bella, be good, don’t cry anymore. I won’t ever abandon you, regardless of what happens in the future."
Bella froze, looking up at her from her embrace, "Aunt Rhodes, what did you say?"
Aunt Rhodes’s body stiffened suddenly, blurting out words in a hurry, guided by her innermost thoughts, without thinking too much about it. Only realizing now, she accidentally let slip a secret she always wanted to hide.
"Bella, I..." Aunt Rhodes gazed at Bella in panic, wanting to explain something but feeling anxious, unsure what to say, afraid of saying more wrong if she continued talking.
"Aunt Rhodes, you just said... won’t abandon me again?" Bella looked at her, suddenly thinking of a possibility, her eyes widening sharply.
