Chapter 408 - 407: The Banquet
"It’s okay." Damian took her hand and walked towards the villa.
As soon as they appeared, several people briskly walked up to them, including Old Mr. Langdon, the host of this gathering.
Old Mr. Langdon came forward and greeted Damian warmly, not at all upset about his lateness.
"Damian, welcome! Welcome!"
Although the Langdon and Sinclair families were not exactly old friends, they had a decent relationship. Especially since Old Mr. Langdon and Old Master Sinclair from the Sinclair Group were good chess friends, the younger generation of the Sinclair family had great respect for Old Mr. Langdon.
"Old Mr. Langdon, why did you trouble yourself to come out personally?" Damian’s expression showed little emotion, but he still politely shook hands with Old Mr. Langdon, gently supporting him to ensure he didn’t walk too fast and unsteadily.
"Since you can find the time to come, how could I not personally come out to greet you?" Old Mr. Langdon said, his gaze discreetly landing on Bella Acker.
A person like him had long since become very astute; he could tell at a glance that Bella Acker wasn’t some wealthy socialite. Her demeanor suggested she was not from a renowned family. Regardless of her true identity, since she was Damian’s companion, she was a guest not to be neglected at the Langdon gathering today.
"You’re too kind." Damian continued to gently support his arm. "Old Mr. Langdon, it’s cold outside, let’s talk inside."
"Yes, yes, Damian, come, come, I have quite a few friends I want to introduce you to know." Old Mr. Langdon finally let his gaze rest on Bella Acker, giving a very amicable smile, teasing Damian, "This is the first time I’ve seen Damian bring a female companion to a gathering. Young lady, hello."
"Hello, Old Mr. Langdon," Bella Acker responded with a slight nod. After all, this was her first time attending such a gathering with Damian, and she felt a bit anxious, but kept her composure, afraid of embarrassing Damian.
"Good, good, you can tell she’s a sensible and well-behaved child at a glance." Old Mr. Langdon casually praised and then shifted his attention elsewhere, smiling, "Damian, the last time I went to the farm in Gallia, I personally brewed a bottle of wine. You must try it today. Come, come." He gestured invitingly.
"I’m sure Old Mr. Langdon’s craftsmanship is impeccable." Damian wore a faint, thoughtful smile, nodding slightly, turning to take Bella Acker’s hand and leading her towards the villa.
Everyone present noticed his gesture, surprised at heart.
It seemed that this woman was not just a simple companion to Damian Sinclair!
However, everyone saw it, remembered it, and gave Bella Acker more friendly glances, but no one asked anything.
Even though Bella Acker hid it well on the surface, she was still anxious inside. She was pondering how she would manage alone at such an unfamiliar gathering if Damian went to socialize with these people when she suddenly felt her hand being held.
The familiar warmth of the palm instantly calmed her nervous heart.
Though Damian was slowly and steadily conversing with other people beside him, he seemed to grip her hand a bit more firmly, as if offering comfort.
Bella Acker’s lips curled up slightly, and she returned his grip, her heart completely at ease.
Once they entered the villa, more people gathered around them. Old Mr. Langdon introduced Damian to everyone, then quietly said, "Young lady, there’s food over there. See if there’s anything you like."
