Chapter 236: Dumb Statement
Chapter 236: Dumb Statement
Ten more days passed and Cecelia was the first to reach Assimilation Stage. And then it began like a new fashion trend and others started to breakthrough one by one. Be it Khrom, Slyff, or anyone else. Except for the people who worked to produce potions or artefacts, all of them became Assimilation Stage, though potioneers and artificers also improved their strength by leaps and bounds in this short time of ten days.
They weren’t lagging behind by too much, anyway. They just needed time and they would be the world’s greatest mage.
Even Kove, Rayna’s son, became a fifth-ranked mage. Rayna herself became Assimilation stage after fifteen days. After the shop upgraded the Meditation Room had also changed. Now it had an effect far greater than before, it was magical before, and now it was heavenly. It was almost erupting with mana. The girls that Aleena had sent had already gone back after becoming rank 6.
Fifty rank 6 mage. It was a terrifying number. Previously there was just a tiny number of people at Assimilation Stage. Nonetheless, Kadyn still felt uneasy, therefore, he never stopped improving. He worked harder and harder, he could feel the approaching danger.
He did not want to die because of his laziness. He did not want to die because of anything. After all, no one wanted to die, even though they knew birth and death were the two most natural things in the world. No one could control his life and death.
In the magical world one may live far longer than the mortal world, but could they call themselves immortal if someone stronger than them could kill them? Only someone who was unreachable, untouchable, and undying could be truly immortal.
No matter how one glorifies himself, calling himself a god or immortal--it doesn’t make him one in real. It only shows that his time had yet to come. Kadyn knew it, so he had no ambition to become immortal and all that bullshit. No one was immortal in this world.
Nonetheless, he still wanted to live a good and honourable life. He did not want to become who had died a laughable death just because of a girl who did not even love him.
Although Kadyn was desperate and eager to improve his strength, he still failed to become the Assimilation Stage even after a month. All the people, including Dion, Melvona, Nefia, had reached the sixth rank. He could not understand the reason behind his delay.
Today after brewing potions, Kadyn shut himself inside the Meditation Room. He was yearning to make a breakthrough, or when the enemy arrived at Vrilas he wouldn’t be strong enough to make a wave in the battle. He did not want to depend on others, his life was too precious to be left hanging on others. He could die and he could die fighting, but... he could not die knowing that he had not tried hard enough.
"Do you really want to take this step," said a voice inside Kadyn’s head. It was the first time the system had spoken since the shop was upgraded.
"What do you mean?" Kadyn asked. Confused. Not knowing why the system was asking such a question.
"Because," said the system with a brief pause, "if you become Assimilation rank mage, the shop will disappear."
"What?" Kadyn jumped on his feet, shocked, eyes going wide. "But why?" Millions of thoughts whirled inside his skull, almost making his head go bonk in a moment, but he still couldn’t come up with a plausible reason. Why the heck the shop will disappear if I become an Assimilation Stage mage?
"That... you will know when you become rank 6 mage. Are you ready for it?"
Kadyn fell silent and then shook his head. "If that is the case, it is not time yet for me to advance."

[Two days later]
"These are the formation masters, artificers, and potion makers you have asked for," said Aleera as she stared at him with glittering eyes. When all the fifty girls she had sent to Kadyn became rank 6 mages, she was shaken to the core, unable to calm down for a long time.
Just two days before Kadyn asked her if she had talented formation masters, potion makers, and artificers. Although she did not know why he wanted them, she, nonetheless, brought the most talented girls. Many of them were the same girls who had come previously before leaving after becoming rank 6 mages.
"Alright," said Kadyn. "Come with me." Then he led them towards the library of the shop. Aleera and Arba followed closely behind him. They wanted to know what he wanted to do.
When they arrived inside the library, their eyes widened. It was a vast hall, with shelves filled with scrolls and books. There were brief introductions written on the shelves. That only amazed them further. After all, there were all kinds of spells present there. Water, dark, fire, space, summoning, etc.
Furthermore, they weren’t just limited to the low-ranking spell, instead, there were shelves filled with rank 6, Radiant grade spells. Other than spells, there were books related to formations, potion making and artefact making as well.
Kadyn led them to the section of formation making and told them, "Read them. Learn them, and improve your understanding of formations as much as possible. You will do wonders in the battle against the Blood tribe."
All of them nodded and eagerly started to browse through the scrolls. Kadyn turned and found Aleera and Arba sneaking glances towards the spell sections. He grinned and led Aleera towards the space element spell section. Kadyn did not know Arba’s magic element so told her to browse through any spell she wished.
"Thank you," Aleera said to him.
Kadyn shook his head. "You know I am not doing this because of you. If it wasn’t for the impending danger, I would not invite your guys to the most important place of my shop."
Aleera eyed him and felt like little sad. What a dumb man! she thought and turned towards the shelf, no longer paying any attention to Kadyn.
Oh, shit! Only then did Kadyn realise what a dumb statement he had just made.
