Chapter 558 Wasteland Scavenging Chronicle (2)
Chapter 558 Wasteland Scavenging Chronicle (2)
Slightly melancholy, Wangyou ate two more peaches until she felt so full that she went for a walk in the yard.
Then she went to check on the growth of the vegetables in her large greenhouse. They were growing well, but not as well as the ones she planted in her space. However, Wangyou noticed that the soil in this small vegetable patch seemed to have changed, because she hadn't mixed in much space soil when she planted them.
Picking up a handful of fine soil, Wangyou sensed a faint life force within it. If this continued, the land could be revitalized.
Wangyou was happy, but she wasn't foolish enough to go outside and make a scene, otherwise she wouldn't have any peace and quiet. If the news of the land coming back to life spread, not only Planet D, but the entire C star system would probably be shaken.
Wangyou watered the yellowish seedlings, then, having nothing else to do, went back inside to get dressed and prepared to go for a stroll to see just how heavy the snow was.
When Wangyou opened the courtyard gate, she realized that the snow was really heavy. At 1.7 meters tall, the snow was almost up to her chest. How could she possibly get out?
Forget it, let's not go out. Let's play in the snow cave instead!
Wangyou found a shovel and slowly shoveled a large hole in the snow. She thought that if the snow were a little thicker, it wouldn't be a problem to dig out a three-bedroom apartment.
It's a bit of a shame that this snow looks so white, but you can't eat it because of the excessive radiation.
With nothing to do, Wangyou leisurely dug a snow cave while shaping the snow into various forms. Since she was alone, she could play however she wanted.
She got hooked on the game and didn't feel tired or hungry, probably because she ate too much in the morning.
Wangyou dug the snow cave towards the back of the mountain, so she wasn't afraid of running into other people. In the end, she actually dug out a three-bedroom, one-living-room house.
Looking at the time, it was already late at night, so Wangyou returned the way she came.
When I got to her house and looked through the protective shield, I saw that the snow showed no signs of stopping. If it kept falling, the houses in the shantytown would be buried first.
However, the lives and deaths of others were not of much concern to her. After a brief moment of reflection, Wangyou returned to her room and took out the hot pot broth she had used that morning to continue cooking hot pot.
Wangyou, who was enjoying hot pot, had no idea that several uninvited guests had arrived at the snow cave she had dug.
After finishing her hotpot, Wangyou, who was fast asleep, vaguely heard someone knocking on the door. A moment later, she heard a scream, and then there was no more sound. In her drowsy state, Wangyou fell asleep again.
When Wangyou woke up the next day, she had completely forgotten about the sounds she had heard the night before.
Although she didn't want to drink the nutritional supplement, she had no choice; there wasn't much hot pot broth left, so she had to eat it sparingly.
After taking the nutrient solution, Wangyou was nowhere near as energetic as she was after eating hot pot yesterday. She was listless and kept munching on various fruits. Although she was full, the contrast between the delicious food and the tasteless nutrient solution was really strong.
Wangyou simply threw herself into her studies. As long as she studied hard enough, she could forget about delicious food.
It proved effective; following the instructions in the book, she took out the mechanical parts she had collected and assembled a snow-sweeping robot.
Once everything was ready, Wangyou poured herself a bottle of nutrient solution and then took the newly made snow-sweeping robot to test its effectiveness.
The snow hasn't stopped, but the snow hole she dug yesterday is still quite sturdy and hasn't collapsed.
Wangyou directed the snow-sweeping robot to first clear the thin layer of snow above the protective cover.
It seemed that if the snow didn't stop, the protective shield would collapse. Wangyou got up and changed a beast core. After the robot finished sweeping away the thin layer of snow on the protective shield, he prepared to enter the snow cave to continue exploring.
Not long after following the snow-plowing robot, Wangyou suddenly sensed something was wrong. The snowman she had placed there had been moved, and there was a faint smell of blood in the air. Wangyou immediately thought of the sound from last night; it probably wasn't a dream she had heard.
Thinking of this, Wangyou immediately became much more vigilant and became on guard, slowly walking deeper into the snow cave.
After walking for a short while, she saw five strange people in the living room of the three-bedroom apartment she had dug out around the corner. One of them, a fat man, was particularly eye-catching. In fact, she had never seen anyone in the wasteland era who could eat himself into such a fat state.
I've heard that people like that were everywhere before the wasteland world existed.
However, despite Wangyou making such a big fuss, none of these people reacted. Looking at the clothes they were wearing, Wangyou figured they must have frozen to death.
With temperatures nearing -80 degrees Celsius, wearing so little clothing, it wouldn't be surprising if someone froze to death.
Looking at the five strangely dressed people, Wangyou sized them up, wondering if he could find something on the corpse. Although these people were so poor that they couldn't even afford protective suits, who knew what good stuff they might have?
Thinking of this, Wangyou first had the robot shake around, and finding that the people did not react, she slowly walked over.
She first approached a man carrying a knife on his back; this knife was probably the only valuable thing he owned.
However, to prevent the corpse from coming back to life, Wangyou reached under the person's nose to test it, but there was no temperature. She then touched the person's neck and felt a faint pulse.
"Holy crap, he's still alive!" Startled, Wangyou immediately took a step back.
After thinking for a moment, Wangyou decided to wait until he died before touching his body, since he probably wouldn't last much longer anyway.
Wangyou looked at her next target, a very tall man wearing black sunglasses. Judging from his full armor, he must be something. As usual, she would first test whether he was still alive.
Unexpectedly, this one was also alive. Wangyou was no longer calm and looked at the man who looked the weakest among them, who also had a breath.
Unconvinced, Wangyou tested the auras of the fat man and the man who looked as delicate as a girl in turn. Good, they were both alive, but they were both living cautiously.
Wangyou wasn't a kind-hearted person, but it was so unlucky for her to die in the dead of winter right in front of her house. There was nowhere to dispose of the body in the middle of winter. When spring came next year, the body would thaw and start to stink, and she would be the one who would stink!
Wangyou remembered the corpse-dissolving water recorded in the book, but unfortunately she had never been able to make it. It wasn't that her skills were lacking, but rather that the materials were inadequate. The corpses she dissolved were incomplete, which was even uglier than leaving them intact.
Wangyou was a little troubled. After thinking for a moment, she began to direct the robot to dig a hole to see if she could break through the frozen layer and bury these people directly, thus ending the problem once and for all.
Then, Wangyou watched the robot start working, and then it became awkward. It took an hour, and all it dug was a shallow pit. It was frozen solid!
