Chapter 419: Chapter Matching and Questions

Chapter 419: Chapter Matching and Questions

The little boy was so cute that you couldn't help but want to pinch his chubby cheeks, but Earl sensed an indescribable eeriness about him.

This aura made Earl wary. He had personally witnessed how this thing transformed into such an adorable child. It would be strange if he wasn't wary.

"Yes, I can talk."

When Earl spoke to the child, the child seemed unusually excited, grinning widely to reveal a row of white teeth, and smiling happily at Earl.

If Earl hadn't just seen through the child's clumsy trap, he probably would have been fooled by the child's innocent smile and thought it meant him no harm.

Earl turned his head sharply, staring intently at Meros, who was locked in a fierce battle with Philip.

The two are now locked in a stalemate, neither able to easily defeat the other.

Seeing this, Earl felt somewhat relieved, realizing that Meros did not need his assistance for the time being.

So he slowly turned his gaze back to the child that had just "hatched".

Earl stared intently at the child, whose body appeared rather thin, as if a gust of wind could blow him over.

The child's skin was so pale it was almost transparent, with a faint bluish tinge, which evoked pity in one's heart. His hair was disheveled, covering most of his face, leaving only a pair of large eyes that revealed a sense of confusion and helplessness.

"So, what exactly are you?"

Earl finally couldn't contain his curiosity and asked, his voice tinged with doubt.

The child was clearly taken aback by Earl's question. He stared blankly at Earl, his lips trembling slightly, and it took him a while to come to his senses.

"Me?...I...I don't know either..."

His voice was so low it was almost inaudible, and he seemed quite confused himself.

Earl wasn't angry; instead, he became even more interested in the answer.

"So, do you know how you came to be? Do you remember those things?"

He pressed for an answer.

He spoke very quickly, bombarding the child with a barrage of questions, clearly showing his intense curiosity about this mysterious child.

"Um……"

“I remember a lot of things. For example, I know perfectly well that you and that person are my enemies, and my mission is to kill you by any means necessary.”

The child hesitated for a moment, as if thinking about how to express himself, and then slowly said.

Its tone was surprisingly calm, as if it were recounting something perfectly ordinary, without the slightest hint of hatred or murderous intent.

It was as if someone were recounting what they ate for breakfast—plain and unremarkable, as if it weren't a matter of life or death.

“I also know that I am not an ordinary creature; I was forcibly ‘hatched.’ In this world, the only person I can rely on is my master.”

However, when the child mentioned "master," its words suddenly became warmer and full of dependence.

"Weren't you just 'hatched'? How do you know so much?"

Earl stared wide-eyed, his face full of suspicion as he pressed on with a tone that revealed a determination to get to the bottom of things, as if he was determined to get the answer out of the child.

"Yes, I just 'hatched'. However, when my master gave me the seed to 'hatch', he already passed on his memories and common sense to me."

The child blinked his clear, watery eyes, looked at Earl with an innocent expression, and then answered in a childish voice.

Earl was somewhat surprised by the child's answer. He couldn't help but think: This thing is quite magical. Scientific researchers are really amazing. They were able to give this child so much knowledge and memory during the "incubation" process. Is this considered creating life?

The child continued to stare at Earl, seemingly waiting for his next question.

"Then what does your master want you to do with these things?"

Earl composed himself and continued to press for answers.

“My master. I don’t know why he gave me these things. Maybe it’s because he thinks I need this knowledge.”

The child tilted his head and thought for a moment, then said.

Earl was not satisfied with the child's answer; he felt that the child's words seemed to hide many secrets.

"Do you know where you came from? And why were you 'hatched'?"

So he decided to try a different approach and keep asking questions.

“I don’t know much about it. I only know that I was ‘hatched’ from the seed my master gave me. As for why I was ‘hatched’, I came out to help my master kill his enemies.”

The child blinked, then said very seriously.

Looking at the child's innocent and naive appearance, Earl couldn't help but feel a surge of pity.

Although the child's words sounded strange and eerie, he was still a child after all, and he looked so well-behaved and cute.

"you……?!!"

"Holy crap (‵o′)凸!!"

Earl's doubts grew stronger, and he was about to press for more information when suddenly he let out a scream.

His body was propelled high into the air as if by a powerful force, as if his entire body had become a taut spring.

Once he landed and stood still, Earl looked back at where he had been.

Right where he had just stood, something strange was faintly visible.

These things seem to possess the ability to camouflage themselves like chameleons; their presence is almost imperceptible without careful observation. Only under certain angles and lighting conditions can subtle discrepancies be observed.

"They actually dodged it..."

The child's voice remained flat, devoid of any emotion, as if his attack on Earl had been nothing more than a casual greeting.

"You little rascal! Weren't we just having a nice chat?!"

Earl stared wide-eyed at the child in disbelief, his anger instantly ignited, his voice filled with rage and incomprehension.

However, when faced with Earl's questioning, the child simply tilted his head and looked at him blankly, seemingly quite surprised by Earl's reaction.

"But we are enemies!"

"My goal is to kill you by any means necessary."

The child's tone remained calm.

"What?! You little brat, how dare you be so arrogant!"

Earl trembled with rage upon hearing the child's words; the hair on his neck stood on end, like that of an enraged beast.

"Don't think you can act with impunity just because you've just arrived in this world! I have plenty of ways to deal with you!"

He glared and roared furiously.
