Chapter 170 3 Tasks
Chapter 170 3 Tasks
Trinity has three important tasks to complete, which is great because three is her favorite number.
Her first task was to keep an eye out for bad guys and troublemakers. It was simple and easy.
The location where they held their charity event was a blocked road between a small park and a playground with a huge sandpit.
Trinity had wanted to climb to the very top of the climbing frame and use it as a lookout point, but that would be too conspicuous.
Moreover, Sienna told her not to be "too silly," and that climbing structure, covered in cartoon drawings and smelling of urine, was indeed a bit silly.
So as soon as they got there, she pushed herself up and climbed to the side of the tree, grabbing a lower branch. Then, while still in the tree, she climbed higher and parted some branches so that she could wrap herself in her cloak and see the whole area around her.
If someone looks up at the right angle, they can only see her face at most. At the same time, she has two eyes high up, which can see everyone.
Her second task was to "act cute".
Trinity found the task difficult, and she suspected her sisters found it difficult too. Sam and the rest of the gang built a large pavilion at one end of the street, with roadblocks behind it.
It wasn't exactly a stage, but it was kind of like one, decorated with cardboard silhouettes of animals like them, and a silhouette of a cool-looking boss.
There were some small rotating lights and a table full of baked goods for people to buy.
Of course, there was also a huge box in the center of the venue, made of transparent plastic. They were trying to encourage people to put money in the box by acting cute and signing things—anything but documents.
At first, most of the people around them were their followers, but soon the number of people increased, and a long queue quickly formed.
Trinity blinked and looked at the first person—an old woman, about the same age as her older sister Sienna or her number one henchman Sam—who was holding a postcard, like the kind another henchman was selling, and asked her to sign it.
The old lady held a postcard in one hand and a cup of something blue in the other, which smelled sweet.
Trinity remembered her instruction to act cute, so she smiled at the old lady and took out her stamp. "Would you like me to sign this?" Trinity asked.
The old lady nodded and smiled back. "That's wonderful."
“Give me that, and I’ll sign,” Trinity said, pointing to the glass. There was only a little left at the bottom.
"You... want the rest of my smoothie? You want to drink it?"
"No, no, I only want the cup."
The old woman seemed a little confused. "It's just a piece of trash."
“That’s right, but this is your trash. You’re not me. People say that other people’s trash is your treasure, so if this is your trash, then it might be my treasure, so I want it.”
The old lady smiled and handed the cup to Trinity. She hadn't even finished the rest of her smoothie!
Trinity bounced around a few times, her tail wagging happily, then she put the cup in her pocket, while another version of herself, behind the stage next to the large trash can, took the cup out of her pocket.
She tore open the lid of the smoothie cup, drank the rest, and it tasted wonderful. "Thank you!" Trinity said, "Now I can stamp your stuff."
The old lady nodded, let Trinity stamp the postcard, and then leaned forward slightly. "May I pat your head?" she asked.
Trinity shrugged. "Sure. But don't pull my ear."
The old lady gently patted Trinity's head, chuckled, and then took the postcard and left, telling Trinity before she left that she was very cute.
She did it! Trinity was still unsure what she had done right, but she had succeeded in being cute.
Is it cute to take other people's things?
Well, anyway, this fits well with her third task. That task is to steal as much stuff as possible from people.
It's not difficult at all. With so many people queuing up, they don't even notice what's in their pockets, and they're all crammed together, constantly bumping into each other and blocking each other's view.
At first, Trinity thought she would have to sneak around and hide for this part of the task, but she found it much easier to just walk up to a small group of people, smile and act cute, and then take things from their pockets.
She kept moving around, searching for people to take advantage of from the treetops, while at least one of them kept moving backstage, where she could stuff people's belongings into a specially marked large garbage bag.
Several people who were treated cutely by her ended up finding their wallets missing and started asking for help everywhere.
So Trinity decided to pretend to be a silly hero to help them, taking their hands and leading them around asking strangers if they had seen this person's wallet.
People usually seem very uncomfortable about this, which makes it easier for her to take their things.
This activity was very fun, although it was also quite tiring. Trinity was happy to have so much to do all at once, because sometimes things can be boring.
It took her a long time to realize that even someone like her older sister Sienna didn't understand her way of doing things.
It's not just because Trinity has three bodies. Although she does. It's because Trinity can focus her attention on three times more things than other people.
Trinity can rub her head and stomach in six different directions at the same time. She's tried! She can do so many things at once, so when she gets bored, she's three times more bored than anyone else.
That's an unbearable amount of boredom.
But today was anything but boring! Trinity kept an eye on everyone, including her sisters, to make sure they were all alright.
Athena reveled in the attention she received, and appeared particularly proud when talking to some adults, who kept praising her for being smart and mature.
Teddy found a group of young men who were grumbling and trying to show off their bulging biceps.
Maple Leaf hid behind her older sister Sienna, only occasionally peeking out to sign her name before quickly retreating back inside. Those who interacted with her seemed to enjoy making sounds of amazement.
As for the eldest sister, Sienna, she seemed more flustered than usual. She tried to focus on everything at once, but ended up only glancing at each thing briefly.
Everything was going quite smoothly, so she wasn't surprised when things suddenly changed. The whispers in the crowd turned from normal conversation into more excited tones.
Trinity squinted from her advantageous position in the tree, secretly hoping she had brought something that could cut down the branches blocking her view.
However, the person who eventually caused the commotion appeared: Trinity rolled her six eyes dramatically.
"Glamour Woman," dressed in a brand-new, tight-fitting bright blue suit. It was exactly the kind of outfit that her older sister Sienna insisted was the worst, the kind she would never wear, even if she died.
The heroine smiled and waved, then stopped to sign some trinkets, but most of the time she continued walking forward, along the edge of the crowd, until she reached the leader.
Trinity, the one closest to the leader, waited until the person signing autographs finished patting her head (for some reason, this happened many times. Is being patted on the head considered cute?), and then walked over to the leader.
"Glamour Woman" is a genuine hero. That means she's a nuisance. Fortunately, Trinity feels she has a good chance of winning the fight.
The heroes are always worried about the civilians nearby and about causing too much damage, and they seem to never remember that they can just bite people, which is really stupid.
If given the chance, she would have to remind the woman of this.
