Chapter 312 - 254: Leaving
Chapter 312 - 254: Leaving
Stepping out of the auditorium, Feng Shan changed back into his fur coat and put on a large fur hat. He blended into the bustling crowd, looking utterly inconspicuous, like any other passerby.
A taxi was parked by the curb. Upon seeing Feng Shan, White Bird quickly got out and opened the car door.
"Sir."
"Thank you." Feng Shan nodded and got into the car. On the seat was a paper bag of food with "Smokehouse BBQ" written on the packaging.
"Sir, I figured you might be hungry. I bought some beef burgers and reindeer sausage hot dogs from the restaurant. The beef and fruit you asked for are in the trunk," White Bird said as he returned to the driver’s seat, glancing at Feng Shan in the rearview mirror.
"Thanks!" A grateful smile appeared on Feng Shan’s face as he opened the paper bag. The rich aroma of the food instantly filled the car. Loki wriggled out from his coat, hopped onto the seat, and eagerly started tearing at the bag, mumbling something about "meat, meat."
The taxi merged into the heavy flow of traffic.
White Bird was a good driver. In less than half an hour, they arrived at the Anchorage Animal Rescue Center on the outskirts of the city.
Compared to the hustle and bustle of the city center, it was exceptionally quiet here. The only sounds were the occasional chirp of insects and the faint stirrings of the animals within the rescue center.
North, who had been notified in advance, was waiting at the gate with a cart.
Feng Shan opened the car door, got out, and walked straight to the trunk, taking out two large bags of food that had been prepared beforehand.
"Mr. Feng, congratulations on receiving the medal of honor." Upon seeing Feng Shan, North hurried forward enthusiastically, his smile growing even brighter. Pushing the cart, he added, "That Wolf Fur Coat you wore for the award ceremony was so cool. Was it a Fenrir Black Wolf Hide?"
"That coat is too flashy. I’d rather not be the center of attention, you know?" Feng Shan shrugged, feigning annoyance.
North had an envious look on his face. He winked and said, "Haha, is it because too many girls were giving you their phone numbers?"
"Let’s go see my children."
Not wanting to continue the conversation, Feng Shan changed the subject and headed into the rescue center.
The two of them hadn’t even reached the tiger enclosure when the tigers, sensing Feng Shan’s presence through the Beast Taming Technique, were already waiting. Over a dozen plump tigers stood pitifully in front of the chain-link fence.
The moment Feng Shan appeared,
the Tiger Pack grew excited. They began roaring and relentlessly pushing at the fence with their paws, causing the chain-link to RATTLE loudly and the entire enclosure to shake.
It was the first time North had seen the tigers behave so abnormally. For safety’s sake, he advised Feng Shan not to enter just yet.
After all, even a captive tiger is still a tiger, possessing a wild nature at its core. They were in an agitated state, and rushing into the enclosure could easily result in injury.
"Mr. Feng, why don’t we go see the parrots first? We can wait for the tigers to calm down."
"No need. They’re just happy to see me." Feng Shan waved his hand dismissively, his tone full of confidence. He rejected North’s suggestion, walked straight to the enclosure, and pulled open the metal gate.
"Don’t—" Seeing Feng Shan open the gate, North’s hair stood on end. His face turned pale as a sheet, and all sorts of horrific images flashed through his mind.
But the next moment,
to North’s surprise, the tigers that had been so agitated were now sitting obediently on the ground.
Each one was perfectly still. They made no aggressive moves, nor did they misbehave in any way. They just kept their eyes fixed on Feng Shan, their gazes full of affection. Their docile appearance was a complete transformation from moments before.
Feng Shan walked into the enclosure and fondly scratched the big head of one of the tigers.
The tiger closed its eyes in comfort, the corners of its mouth turning up slightly. A series of deep rumbles emanated from its throat, making Feng Shan feel as if he were petting a large bottle of Coca-Cola.
Loki flew fearlessly into the Tiger Pack, landing on one tiger’s back one moment and hopping beside another the next. Every so often, he would praise the tigers in Feng Shan’s tone of voice.
"Good boy, so well-behaved."
"You’re all my good children."
The tigers sensed the aura of the Beast Taming Technique from Loki, so they were friendly toward him, letting him hop all over them.
"Mr. Snow, when can they be sent to the Crown Territory?" Feng Shan asked, turning his head to look at North, who was standing outside the enclosure, while he continued to scratch the tiger’s head.
"The relevant paperwork is still being processed," North said after a moment’s thought. "As long as the on-site inspection of the Crown Territory goes well, they can be sent over."
Feng Shan nodded and said to the affectionate tiger beside him, "Did you hear that? You’ll be able to go to the Crown Territory soon."
Afterward, the two of them distributed the beef from the cart to each of the tigers.
The tigers’ eyes lit up at the sight of the beef. They immediately crowded around and began to eat with great relish.
When the tigers had more or less finished eating, Feng Shan and North left the tiger enclosure and pushed the cart to the area where the parrots were kept.
After feeding the parrots, they gave the remaining beef to the vultures.
After checking on the animals he had adopted, Feng Shan confirmed the inspection date for the Crown Territory with North, then left the rescue center and went straight to the airport.
The Carnation was parked in the hangar. The airport ground crew had specially performed maintenance on it—which wasn’t free, of course.
Feng Shan didn’t mind, however. As long as the plane was kept in good condition and was safe to fly, that was all that mattered.
After saying goodbye to White Bird,
Feng Shan flew the plane out of Anchorage City by himself, heading toward the Wild Bull Tribe.
